Teaching a Vocation not a Profession

Have we ever thought about the very basic question “What is the root cause of our all problems?” Is it jealousy or anger or lust or is it greed? According to my observation all problems arise due to our misunderstood ego which categorizes us as an Engineer or Doctor or Teacher or as a Hindu or Muslims. This narrow thinking creates all problems, due to which we are not able to give our 100% performance.

Now the question arises how to get rid of this ego problem. We have to master a very important skill which will help us to understand & treat people equally irrespective of their positions or education. If we master this skill, we will be able to feel gratitude for each & everything which makes our life worth living. We will be able to acknowledge the sweeper who actually cleans our dirt. This way we will not only control our ego but also make others feel valued and respected.

How to Love & Be Loved by All

Now comes the other problem i.e. how to love & be loved by all? We can get inspiration from our holy books, no matter which religion they belong to, as they all teach love & gratitude.

We should be grateful to the knowledge that guides our life, and more than that we should be grateful to our mentors and teachers who help us learn & understand knowledge in the right way.

Stages of Learning in a Teacher’s Life

  1. In this stage a teacher is in infancy and learns the skill of learning.
  2. Secondly, the teacher learns how to teach with complete confidence.
  3. In this stage, the teacher learns to apply knowledge in life as actions speak louder than words.
  4. This is the stage of self-realization where the teacher understands their purpose and effectiveness.
  5. In the final stage, the teacher becomes aware of the presence of the omnipotent God.

The True Essence of a Teacher

If a teacher realizes that they are like a candle sacrificing themselves to remove ignorance and spread knowledge, then they understand the true essence of teaching.

Nothing in this world comes without cost, and the same applies to knowledge. Let us be thankful to all those who give us knowledge and help us grow. Developing gratitude makes us humble.

Teaching is the most noble profession. Even our former president Dr. S. Radhakrishnan was a teacher. Our country can advance only due to efficient and effective teachers.

A teacher should always be able to say, “Thank you God for making me a human being and above all a teacher”.

Be a happy teacher because you are the source of inspiration for future generations. Respect yourself so that others can respect you.

Respect for Teaching Profession

Teaching profession should be given proper respect. I congratulate all those who are attached to this noble profession.

There should be a spark in future teachers. Your features determine your future. We can stand out through our unique personality, which can be developed through meditation.

Panch Navkar Mantra & Gratitude

Let us fold our hands, close our eyes, and take a deep breath while chanting the Panch Navkar Mantra:

  • NAMO ARIHATANAM – One who purifies karma and realizes God
  • NAMO SIDDHANAM – The enlightened person (teacher)
  • NAMO AYARIYANAM – One who practices and teaches
  • NAMO UBAJJHAJHAYANAM – One who continuously preaches
  • NAMO LOYSABBASAHUNAM – All spiritual teachers

These mantras help us express gratitude towards teachers who remove darkness and guide us towards enlightenment.

Power of Thoughts & Concentration

For concentration, we must repeat mantras. Lack of concentration is a major problem in student life, while ego affects personal life.

Science says energy is created by vibration, and vibration is created by sound. Sound creates thoughts, thoughts create feelings, feelings generate energy, and energy materializes. Let us practice this in daily life to make it meaningful and beautiful.
